Professional experience
During my master's internship at the psychiatric ward (PAAZ) of AZ Sint-Lucas Ghent, I worked with people facing a wide range of psychological and psychiatric difficulties, including adjustment problems, mood disorders, personality issues and substance abuse.
I gained experience in individual sessions, crisis conversations, and couple, family and network meetings. I also facilitated group therapy sessions on themes such as communication, assertiveness, stress, worry, relaxation and emotions.
What I offer
In my practice I primarily draw on elements from cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Together we explore how thoughts, feelings and behaviour influence each other, and how you can relate to difficult experiences in a gentler way.
The goal is not to eliminate difficult thoughts or feelings, but to learn to relate to them differently — so that there is room again to live according to what matters most to you.
I also place great importance on culture-sensitive care. Our background, family, values and culture shape the way we see ourselves and the world. Experiences related to migration, identity or living between cultures can also affect how we feel. I believe it is important to create space for this within therapy, so that you feel safe to tell your story.
You can reach me by phone or email to schedule an initial exploratory session. During this meeting I will listen to your question and expectations, and together we will explore whether my approach is a good fit for what you need.
Individual therapy is available, and where appropriate, couple or family sessions are also possible. An individual session lasts 50 minutes. A couple or family session lasts 1h20.
Sessions are available in Dutch, Turkish and English, both in practice and online.
Please cancel your appointment at least 24 hours in advance. Depending on your age and health insurance, partial reimbursement may be possible.
